Why do I love Jerry Jones? Because he is such a fantastically egostical and incompetent owner. He hired Jimmy Johnson, the one good move he ever made. How do you come to the conclusion that the man ready to take us to the next step, a step the great Bill Parcells was unable to accomplish, is Wade Phillips? I thought Norv Turner would be hilarious too but this takes the cake. Awesome. I can't wait for 3-4 more years of Cowboy mediocrity. Then Phillips gets fired. Who will the next coach be then? Wayne Fontes?
Yessir, Cowboy fans, look for a couple 6-10 seasons. Maybe, once Jones is sick of Phillps, he'll hire Bill Callahan.
ReplyDeleteEven if thy are good enough, A.P., Phillips will find a way to lose the game. I say this from personal experience with this "coach."
ReplyDeleteAs a Lions fan, I feel the pain of team ownership by doddering fool, although I'll note that our doddering fool manages to not look like a weird plastic surgery experiment in public, while flushing his franchise down the toilet.
ReplyDeleteSay what you will about Cocaine Wayne, but he currently represents the post-1958 golden era of the Detroit Lions. And he last for years with the team that drove Bobby Ross to quit mid-year after a few seasons. Now, that was probably all due to Barry Sanders, but Wayne Fontes has a better track record of NFL success than some people who've gotten multiple coaching jobs.
I really, really hate the Cowboys, so I think the real tragedy of Jerry Jones is that he makes me feel sorry for you all.
Oh, yeah, and right now, I have to admit I'd consider the Lions going 6-10 cause for excitement and celebration.

ReplyDeleteDitto the Browns.
Next Cowboys coach: Jerry Glanville.
ReplyDeleteOh, and about Bill Parcells: How many times has he been to the Superbowl without Bill Belicheck?
They're next coach is probably Jason Garrett. Phillips is just a stand in so that Garrett can be groomed for the job. I'm not sure if that makes Jones any less insane though.
