Lynching of James B. Daniels, Helena, MT, March 2, 1866.

Part of vigilante movement that dominated Montana at that time. Daniels was convicted of manslaughter in a bar fight. He was convicted but pardoned by the territorial governor. They hanged him and stuffed the pardon in his pocket.
