Roland Burris

Senate to seat Roland Burris.

I really have no problem with this. Given that Burris did nothing illegal himself, I don't see the legal justification to not seat him. Sure, he's going to be tainted. On the other hand, this becomes nothing than a placeholder before the real race in 2010. Given that the appointment system to replace senators is negative in almost every conceivable way, this might actually be the best outcome to this situation. It's hard to imagine Burris seriously competing for the job in 2010 given that no one really supports him, so we're likely to see a new and well-qualified senator from Illinois in 2 years.

Update: Turns out this was premature. Harry Reid is denying it. But I think it's going to happen in the next day or two anyway.
