An Odd Question

I was getting a slice of pizza the other day and the woman ordering next me actually asked if they took cash. To my astonishment, the guy didn't seem to think it was an odd question. Am I missing something here? Do some places not take cash these days? If so, I am really out of the loop. I can't imagine it to be true though.
