Link of the Day: Butter and Margarine

Lisa has an awesome little post on the history of conflict between butter and margarine, including how margarine managed to overcome the butter industry, why butter is dyed yellow today, and how margarine still outsells butter today. Definitely worth a look.

Also, who the hell still eats margarine? And why? I once ran across a story in a 1948 newspaper pronouncing the positive health benefits of margarine, which I found laughable. Of course, that was also the golden age of jello and endless number of other prepared foods, so it's not exactly surprising.
