Union Infighting

Let me build on yesterday's post by pointing you to this Harold Meyerson piece on infighting among unions. That the unions are a mess internally makes me feel even less confident about their ability to shove the Employee Free Choice Act down the throats of their conservative opposition.

Infighting is nothing new among the unions of course. Infighting led to the creation of the CIO, among other things. But that it is so bad at this critical juncture is sad. UNITE-HERE might break part, Change to Win is falling apart, with UNITE-HERE and the Laborers wanting to return to the AFL-CIO, etc., etc. Very bad stuff.
