AHA Denounces War

The American Historical Association has come out in denunciation of the war in Iraq.

I'm not sure how earth shattering this is. But historians, far from the most activist of academics, do have a certain amount of influence in this nation. Indeed, this is the first time in the organization's 118 year history that they have publicly attacked U.S. foreign policy. With most of the nation against the war, the AHA is just one more voice, albeit a not entirely unimportant one. Nevertheless, the condemnation of the war by the people in this nation who know the most about the past, and therefore the historical follies of war and much else that the Bush administration is foisting upon the American public, is important and deserves a great deal of publicity.
