Navajo Long Walk, Fort Sumner, New Mexico, 1864.

For those not familiar with this story, the Navajos were rounded up in 1864 and sent to Bosque Redondo, near Fort Sumner, New Mexico. Here they stayed and died until 1868 when an outcry over their treatment allowed them to return home with a reservation that today is the largest in the nation.
