John Kerry--Again Shown Ineffective

John Kerry again shows that he is ineffective in battling the Republicans. He has now stepped away from the campaign trail because of his remarks about uneducated Americans getting "stuck in Iraq," something that is in fact true. Again, he didn't see this coming and again he has been rendered an ineffective joke.

In a lot of ways this is sad because Kerry clearly would have made a fine president. He's smart, he has good values, and he's competent, something lacking in our current president. But in the modern political climate, he is ill-equipped to handle filth thrown at him.

Let's face it, he's right and everyone knows it. The military is a class-based system in the United States. College-educated people rarely go into the military and when they do, it's because they want to. For a large percentage of the enlisted personnel, the military is the best and often only option they have.

Kos gets it right. He quotes Ohio Senate Candidate Sherrod Brown saying, "The people who should apologize are George Bush and Mike DeWine for sending our troops into battle without body armor and without examining the cooked intelligence," and then goes on to say "Thats the way you show strength. That's the way you beat back bullies. That's the way you win in America. Not by going around whining about "apologies" and worried that Rove and his Republican bullies might say "boo!"

The great thing about the new generation of Democrats is that they aren't going to put up with this crap from the Republicans. They'll fight back, something that that the Kerry-Gore-Clinton generation has always seemed afraid to do.
