Commodore 64 Music--LIVE!!

...sort of. Apparently, CNN has decided that Commodore 64 nostalgia is a newsworthy item. I couldn't care less about people's dreamy memories of a crappy computer. However, the end of the article did pique my interest. Rob Hubbard has arranged the themes from the most popular of the Commodore's games for chamber orchestra and is releasing an album of the music in the states in January. The C64 Orchestra, or Ricciotti Ensemble depending on where you look, has also been touring the music with montages of the performed games in the background. The music is high tension and cheesy, so who knows how it'll play as a concert or an album, but the arrangements seem to be short bursts of repetition on the game theme, which gives it a very strong sense of Philip Glass. This can be both good and bad, but the album will definitely be worth a listen, if for no other reason than the rascist theme of "International Karate."

Because I have no idea how to place a video directly onto a post, here's a link to the trailer for the live performance.
