Another Thought on Bergman
I find it curious that Ingmar Bergman has dropped in popularity among young people. I read somewhere recently that young people identifying Bergman with their birkenstock-wearing parents going on a date in college. While he definitely fits in that place and time, I have a bit of trouble understanding why someone like Bergman would drop in popularity. No doubt, Bergman's themes don't fit with most modern movies--let's face it, it's not popular today to pry open the rawest feelings possible in today's postmodern cinema. But I wonder if the young people dismissing Bergman have seen his films?
