Viva Nuevo Mexico (IX)

It's been a long time since a Viva Nuevo Mexico post. Well over a year in fact. But this is so classic New Mexico that the short newspaper story must be cited in full.

Three Los Lunas fast-food workers arrested late Sunday.

Two Isleta Pueblo police officers got more than they bargained for at a Burger King restaurant in Los Lunas late Sunday when they were allegedly served marijuana cooked with their hamburgers, KOAT-TV is reporting.

"They consumed about half the hamburgers each before they found that there was something in the food," Los Lunas police Lt. Joe Sanchez told Action 7 News.

The officers ran a field test on the uneaten part of the hamburgers and it came back positive for marijuana, the station reported.

Los Lunas police were called, and three restaurant employees were arrested and charged with aggravated battery on a police officer as well as marijuana possession.

God bless New Mexico.
