The Real Terrorists

The Bush administration loves to focus the nation's attention on the terrorists looking to attack us from abroad. This is pretty necessary given how many tens of thousands they have created.

But they sure don't want us remembering that we have terrorists at home too. David Neiwert reminds us of these people in his discussion of David McMenemy, who recently tried to suicide bomb a Davenport, Iowa women's health clinic.

Much as some Muslim charities funnel money to terrorist organizations, some in the Republican Party support terrorist actions like these under the guise of morality and family values.

Let's not forget that the second greatest terrorist attack in US history came from the right-wingers Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols in 1995. But we sure don't hear much these days about the kind of support their ideas (if not their penultimate actions) had from large swathes of the Republican Party.
