Richardson

Well, Bill Richardson bowed out. It was a strange campaign from a strange candidate. He should have been strong. But he's a weird politician. I think he means well, but he comes up with all sorts of crackpot things. His biggest problem is that he is a panderer without the skills to seem like he is not pandering. My favorite example of this was a year and a half ago when all that stupid shit about having to sing the National Anthem in English was going on. It was just dying down and then Richardson came out and said he agreed with Bush on the issue. Why would the governor of New Mexico say this? I guess he was trying to appeal to conservatives, but what a stupid issue to do it with. Why not just sit that out?

But that was classic Bill. One great idea or plan (his energy plan for instance) followed by two completely ridiculous ideas. I don't think he is a neocon as Steve Benen claims. Rather, he was shifting in the wind, trying to find a policy that served his political ambitions rather than any principle.

He would make a great Secretary of State though. We might have a chance to solve most of our problems with North Korea since he has a personal relationship with the North Koreans. That alone would make him a huge success in the position.
