Comments

Is there some kind of iron law that the bigger the progressive blog, the worse the comments? Atrios and Kos are great examples. They are great blogs certainly, but what's up with the comments? People just post useless shit on them. Who are these people anyway? Do they have nothing better to do than blather about nothing? The only worthwhile conversations about those posts occur on other blogs that link to them.

No doubt one culprit is the unfortunate Open Thread posts, which encourage people to write their nothingness.

Maybe I shouldn't care, but it would be nice to read a useful debate in comments on a Kos post. Instead, you can read 500 one line comments about nothing.
